Spicing up Your Party

Unfortunately, we’ve all been there before. Sitting (maybe alone) at a table like some uninspired wallflower, the party around us seeming more like a middle school mixer as the minutes go by. As you sip on your cheap drink, maybe poke at whatever food you are able to stomach, you scan the event hall like some desperate astronomer looking for any sign of life – something that will reaffirm your belief that life can be a good time that makes sense.

You spot a lifeless dancefloor, with a couple of kids jumping up and down as if they were in a bounce house. All the youngish people are outside smoking or trying to escape the boredom that has settled over the reception like smog. Off in the corner there’s the DJ resembling more a corpse than a maker of music. You question whether he is sleeping or not. You think to yourself, what the heck am I doing here?

The long and short of it is that no one wants to go to a boring event, no matter what kind of event it is – birthday party, wedding reception, Bar and bat Mitzvah, etc. At Total Entertainment, we provide everything from lights to karaoke, to bounce houses, but every now and again, we come across some strange ideas to spice up any party that even makes us step back and say, “Well, that’s something different.” Many of these offbeat ideas are featured in wedding magazines across the Internet, including this article from The Huffington Post.

They suggest hiring a dance instructor to teach your guests an easy fun dance they can do together. Ariane Fisher writes, “Get extra fun points by tying it into your ethnic background or personal interests with a story…You want all your guests to be able to participate and enjoy, so keep the “lesson” portion under 10 minutes.”

At Total Entertainment, we like to think outside of the box; the sky’s the limit when it comes to throwing the biggest bash of the year. While we provide traditional entertainment, we also provide some offbeat ones. But don’t hesitate to call us and let us know your dream event or party. We’re always willing to listen and always ready to deliver. What are some the craziest entertainment you’ve seen at a wedding or party? Let us know in the comments below.
