As one of the nation’s oldest cities, Boston is well-known for elaborate parades to celebrate Independence Day. This annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular and live concert usually draw large crowds from all over the USA.
This year, the event has been canceled, and instead, there will be a televised celebration with guest artists, highlights of past years, and a salute to frontline workers. Learn more about the Boston Pops Salute to Our Heroes event at BostonPopsJuly4th.org. While the large celebration is being canceled, there are still ways to observe this patriotic holiday.
Here are a few tips for celebrating the Fourth of July this year:
Front Yard BBQ
One of the best ways to celebrate the Fourth of July is with a backyard BBQ. This year, try something different by grilling in your front yard. May is National BBQ Month, and Oscar Meyer’s new campaign encourages communities to take their grill to the front yard. Get your neighbors involved by sending out an email or posting a few flyers on the trees on your street. This front yard BBQ is a great way to socialize and get your neighborhood to come together while still respecting the current policy of social distancing.
Patriotic Decorations
This year, go all out with your decor. Use American Flags and other red, white, and blue items to show off your patriotism. You can even make red, white, and blue drinks for you and your family. Check out this easy recipe for a Frosty Patriotic Punch.
Cool Off In The Pool
Get out your most patriotic swimsuit and cool off by taking a dip in the pool. Boston weather is heating up, and it is expected to be over 80 degrees on the Fourth of July. Taking a swim is a great way to relax and beat the summer heat. Don’t have a pool? Check out Total Entertainment’s selection of inflatable water slides.
